Online Safety Training 101: The Dos, Don'ts and Did-You-Knows

Online Safety Training 101

As students head back to school this month for a new year of learning, it's a good time to evaluate safety training and education for employees in the workplace. Whether you're a supervisor, manager, trainer or worker in the construction or general industries, safety training is likely on your radar.

With more than 8 million students nationwide who have completed online safety training, we take pride in providing businesses with the information they need to make informed decisions about safety training for their valued employees.

Here are some of the most common questions we hear from students who want to complete their training:

Q: What courses do you offer?

A: We proudly offer 10-Hour Construction, 30-Hour Construction, 10-Hour General Industry, 30-Hour General Industry and many other courses. View our full list of courses.

Q: Can I complete my training on my iPhone, tablet or other mobile device?

A: Yes. Our courses are mobile compatible and can be taken anywhere with internet access.

Q: What features come with your courses?

A: Our courses are interactive and fully narrated with quizzes at the end of each section and a final exam. Designed with proprietary technology, they are both visually and audibly engaging. In short, we don't want our students to feel bored when taking our courses. View a course demo here.

Q: Do you offer discounts on courses?

A: Yes. Our bulk discount pricing structure makes it affordable to train several people at the same time.

Q: When will I receive my Department of Labor OSHA card?

A: After you have successfully completed the course you can download your certificate of completion. This serves as temporary proof of course completion until your OSHA certificate and OSHA card (for OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Hour Outreach graduates) arrive in the mail. Please note that the official Department of Labor OSHA card can sometimes take 6 or more weeks to arrive due to DOL processing, but your temporary certificate serves as an equivalent proof of training until you receive your card.

Q: What if I want or need to talk to a real-life trainer?

A: Every student who completes our 10 and 30-Hour Construction and General Industry courses has access to a real-life trainer via e-mail at all times. Our trainer is OSHA-Authorized and prepared to respond to any questions students may have during their course.

Q: Do I have to take the course in one sitting?

A: No. One of the many benefits of online training is flexibility. You'll be able to stop and start the course at your leisure. Your progress will be saved in the course.

Q: When does my OSHA Department of Labor Card expire?

A: There is no expiration date on your Department of Labor card - only a date of completion. You should inquire about your company's individual policies regarding safety training and visit osha.gov for OSHA regulations and standards.

Q: Do I need books or other materials to take my course?

A: No. There are no additional materials needed to complete your course. For your convenience, you will have access to printable PDF reviews of the material.

Q: What if I experience a technical problem during my course?

A: Our US-based customer support team is on standby and available to you 24/7 to promptly address any technical issues you may experience during your course via live chat, phone and email. View our help link for all the resources you will need to resolve any technical issues and get answers to your questions quickly.

Q: How long do I have to complete my OSHA training?

A: You have 180 days (approximately 6 months) to complete your online OSHA training. This applies to all OSHA courses.
