You've Finished OSHA Safety Training - Now What?

While many take 10- or 30-Hour OSHA Outreach training to satisfy a workplace or job site requirement, OSHA training can offer many additional benefits to OSHA card holders. Here are some tips for how you can make the most out of your OSHA certificate.

Update Your Resume

Congrats on passing your course! Be sure to update your resume with the title of the course you completed and the card/certificates you achieved. In most cases these courses will not expire!

Get A New Job

If you don't already have a job lined up, getting your OSHA card can let employers know you have a solid baseline of safety training. Make sure your LinkedIn and resume are updated to include your certificate, and make sure prospective employers know that you've already taken the steps to get trained - they'll like that! If you've already got a job, update your LinkedIn and resume anyway! Future you will thank you for your diligence.

Join Your Company Safety Committee

Many companies are required by state or federal law to have special safety groups or committees responsible for reviewing safety practices, training materials and safety complaints in the workplace. With your new safety training, you could be a valuable addition to your corporate safety committee!

Use Social Media To Network

Social media pages, networking groups and other social mediums can help you keep up-to-date on new safety news, connect with other safety professionals, solve safety-related problems or develop ideas for safety training.
