The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) classifies and regulates the shipment of hazardous materials. All employees who handle or transport HAZMAT must complete safety training as outlined in 49 CFR 172.704 Subpart H. This standard, also known as HM-181, establishes crucial training topics for anyone who handles, manages or transports restricted goods. The seven-hour course prepares workers to comply with DOT regulations, safely handle hazardous goods, properly document shipments and protect both people and the environment from potential harm.
